On October 15-17, 2020, a global summit on Regenerative Economy, World Happiness & Climate Action will take place in Parma (October 15-16) and Rome, at the Vatican (October 17).

We have 10 years to address and take concrete action in these 3 areas all deeply interconnected. This is what inspired and guided the Summit Founders to create this event. Our aim is to start a dialogue and build a regenerative alliance among global leaders, coming together from all disciplines, paths, and countries, to share ideas, best practices, and above all a strong and clear commitment.

All participants – policy makers, entrepreneurs, spiritual leaders, academics, members of NGOs and the civil society - will sign a pledge you will find on this website in Spring 2020. This pledge will guide us along the path, shaping our joint way forward.

We envision a global economy in which enterprises and all other actors are a positive force that regenerates humans, society, and the biosphere. Businesses measure their impact and create value for all stakeholders, understanding that we together are responsible for future generations.

The pursuit of happiness in its deepest meaning of self-realization, altruism, individual & social wellbeing, is the ultimate life goal and the new frontier of sustainability. Policy makers, private & public organizations and spiritual leaders should commit to achieve happiness as the real measure of human progress.

Climate crisis is the main threat to our common future. The world must reach net-zero GHG (greenhouse gases) emissions by 2050 at the latest. We hereby commit for a strong effort to shift our business models towards a decarbonization path for starting a new inclusive and prosperous economy.

The summit is a platform and launchpad for the development of a regenerative economy through dialogue among all parties. Plenary sessions will alternate with workshops, seminars, and interactive meetings on specific subjects, with innovative dynamic formats which will allow everybody to be an active actor of the summit and contribute to elaborate a shared roadmap with clear actions to commit to.

Leaders from around the world have already committed to being involved, ie Jeffrey Sachs, Columbia University & UN-SDNS; Dasho Karma Ura, President, Center for Buthan Studies;  Emmanuel Faber, Chair & CEO, Danone; Pedro Tarak, Emprendia & Guayaki, co-founder, Sistema B; Augusto Zampini-Davies, The Vatican; Stefano Zamagni, Pontifical Academy of Sciences; Paul Kloppenborg, Global Cleantech Capital; representatives of the Royal Family of Bhutan; Fabrizio Gavelli, GM of Mellin-Nutricia; Mauro del Barba, MP, former senator and founder of the ’societá benefit’ legislation;  Edo Ronchi, President, Sustainable Development FoundationAchim Steiner of UNDP; Enrico Giovannini, Asvis; Koen van Seijen, Toniic; and many others to follow.

We have 10 years to reset our economic system towards regeneration, as we know from the global goals. Alongside with the main event, which will see a very rare gathering of governmental and non-governmental organizations, spiritual leaders, the academic world, and the private sector, two integrated gathering will also be hosted on this occasion:

  • an annual meeting of the growing B Corp Movement, comprising Certified B Corps, Benefit Corporations (and Societá Benefit in Italy), totaling over 10,000 firms, which will represent an important pillar of the summit, as well as attract other organizations moving in the same direction
  • the annual International Conference on Gross National Happiness, organized and promoted by the Centre for Bhutan Studies, taking place in Europe for the first time, which puts the needed shift ‘beyond GDP’ at the center of the conversation around happiness & wellbeing, and their measurement.

All participants will be required to sign the Regenerative Economy, World Happiness, and Climate Action Pledge, demonstrate, share and commit to their own 2030 goals, and follow-up every year until 2030.

Be the change you want to see in the world!

Be part of the regeneration, join this community of people from around the world who are truly engaged to shift the present paradigm and invert this unsustainable route, commit signing the pledge and ‘walk the talk’ to achieve the Regeneration 2030 goals.

We invite all global and local leaders to virtually join us already in the months leading up to the summit, to contribute with their thoughts and inspiration to content-creation & community-building. This website will grow along the way to soon include the names and short biographies of the summit hosts and the first confirmed leaders who will attend.

We also need partners to support the summit and to develop this regenerative ecosystem - we need everyone who is committed to the regenerative agenda to play a part!
